Take note of and remember the following photo quotes. It’s always worthwhile to learn from masters.

“The wisdom of the wise and the experience of the ages are perpetuated in quotations”. – Benjamin Disraeli

1. “You don’t take a photograph, you make it.” – Ansel Adams
Full awareness of what makes a good photo is essential in taking great photographs.
Why would anyone be interested in this photo and what elements can be included or excluded to make it truly great?

2. “Your first 10,000 photographs are your worst.” – Henri Cartier-Bresson
Do you know how many photos you have taken up until now? You will have to take thousands of pictures to reach a point where you can begin to evaluate them objectively. Looking upon your photos as if you were looking at them through someone else’s eyes is a good way to give yourself constructive criticism. Comparing your first photos with your most recent, do you see improvement? Do you remember how you loved some of your first photos – do you still love them or are they now not so good anymore?

3. “Beauty can be seen in all things, seeing and composing the beauty is what separates the snapshot from the photograph.”– Matt Hardy
You often don’t or can’t see beauty in the world until someone shows it to you. Take a look around you just now – even without moving from the computer. Can you see something in a new way, a different way of presenting something common? Just take a look again…

4. “Nothing happens when you sit at home. I always make it a point to carry a camera with me at all times…I just shoot at what interests me at that moment.”– Elliott Erwitt
When the world is your canvas, so to speak, you need your tools with you to capture everything around you. Make a habit of always carrying a camera with you—you will never suffer the regret of wishing you had.

5. “Which of my photographs is my favorite? The one I’m going to take tomorrow.” – Imogen Cunningham
Never be fully satisfied with what you’ve done.
Never stop photographing. It is very likely that your best photograph has not yet been captured.

6. “You’ve got to push yourself harder. You’ve got to start looking for pictures nobody else could take. You’ve got to take the tools you have and probe deeper.” – William Albert Allard
We are always looking for reasons for not taking good pictures. Cartier-Bresson used film camera, same lens, no flash, same shutter speed – he didn’t need the newest digital equipment to take great photos.
We all have access to some subjects that no one else has access to – look at your friends’ hobbies, the workplaces of friends and family, and any place you have access to to find a vision that comes uniquely from your access. Many people would dream of having the same access you have, and you might not have considered how valuable your access is.

7. “If I saw something in my viewfinder that looked familiar to me, I would do something to shake it up.” – Garry Winogrand
How often have you seen a photo that is missing something, thinking, “This is a good photo but I’d make it different somehow.”? Sometimes small things make a big difference. Don’t be afraid to shake things up.

8. “I always thought good photos were like good jokes. If you have to explain it, it just isn’t that good.” – Anonymous
Sometimes it is interesting to hear the story behind the photo and you see the photo in a new light. But in most cases a photo shouldn’t need a story to back it up. It has to speak for itself.

9. “Twelve significant photographs in any one year is a good crop.” – Ansel Adams
Even one of the masters in photography, Ansel Adams, didn’t expect to get more than 12 great photographs each year.
How can anyone expect more?
Take a look at your last year in photos – do you really see 12 photos that stand out from the rest?

10. “It can be a trap of the photographer to think that his or her best pictures were the ones that were hardest to get.” – Timothy Allen – On editing photos
Editing photos can often be the most difficult but also the most satisfying part. Sometimes taking a quick look at all the photos and then going away for a while before taking a closer look lends a fresh eye to your viewing. You may see things you did not notice previously. Stepping away from the mass of photos can make certain images stand out in your mind’s eye, leaving a memorable impression that can characterize a good photo.

Health:
Drink plenty of water.
Eat breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince and dinner like a beggar.
Eat more foods that grow on trees and plants and eat less food that is manufactured in plants.
Live with the 3 E’s – Energy, Enthusiasm and Empathy
Play more games.
Read more books than you did in 2010.
Sit in silence for at least 10 minutes each day.
Sleep for 7 hours.
Take a 10-30 minutes walk daily. And while you walk, smile.

Personality:
Don’t compare your life to others. You have no idea what their journey is all about.
Don’t have negative thoughts or things you cannot control. Instead invest your energy in the positive present moment.
Don’t over do. Keep your limits.
Don’t take yourself so seriously. No one else does.
Don’t waste your precious energy on gossip.
Dream more while you are awake.
Envy is a waste of time. You already have all you need.
Forget issues of the past. Don’t remind your partner with his/her mistakes of the past. That will ruin your present happiness.
Life is too short to waste time hating anyone. Don’t hate others.
Make peace with your past so it won’t spoil the present.
No one is in charge of your happiness except you.
Realize that life is a school and you are here to learn. Problems are simply part of the curriculum that appear and fade away like algebra class but the lessons you learn will last a lifetime.
Smile and laugh more.
You don’t have to win every argument. Agree to disagree.

Society:
Call your family often.
Each day give something good to others.
Forgive everyone for everything.
Spend time with people over the age of 70 & under the age of 6.
Try to make at least three people smile each day.
What other people think of you is none of your business.
Your job won’t take care of you when you are sick. Your friends will. Stay in touch.

Life:
Do the right thing!
Get rid of anything that isn’t useful, beautiful or joyful.
However good or bad a situation is, it will change. No matter how you feel, get up, dress up and show up.
The best is yet to come.
Your Inner most is always happy. So, be happy.

Date a girl who takes photographs. Date a girl whose favorite sound is the click-click of the shutter as it closes and opens to capture a memory. Date a girl who sees the wonder in the simplest things. Date a girl who looks at the world and wonders how to put a little of herself in it.

You might find her in the park, lost behind her lens, the world a blur around her as she tries to capture a single moment in time. You might find her in an exhibit, a look of concentration on her face as she contemplates a photograph that called out to her as she was passing by. Or maybe you will find her in a bookstore, a book in her lap as she pores over photographs of weddings all the while wondering what hers would look like.

Take her out to photo walks and laugh as she tries to take a picture of you. When she gets tired of walking, buy her cupcakes but wait until she has taken pictures of them before proceeding to eat them. Listen as she tells you her ideas for a photo shoot on the ride home.

Take her to a restaurant and wait patiently as she surveys the menu carefully, appreciating the food photography. And again, wait until she has taken a photo of your food before digging in. Allow her introduce you to Ansel Adams while you both eat your lunch. Introduce her to your favorite musician as you wait for the bill to arrive. When you get home, change your Facebook profile picture into a photograph she took of you. She silently hoped for it.

Take stolen shots of her. Compile it and give it to her on her birthday. Tell her you love her over and over until your voice replaces the click of the shutter as her favorite sound. Kiss her after she lifts her head up from the camera. Give her camera-shaped necklaces. Go places with her.

You will never be bored again.

Date a girl who takes photographs. She will never whine about a little dirt on her favorite pair of jeans as she kneels down to get a better angle of her subject. She will never be afraid to take adventures with you. She will take photographs of you not just with her camera but with her mind as well and keep it to herself to admire at night. But above all, she will teach you how to look at the world with a brand new perspective and she will do that unknowingly.

Marry a girl who takes photographs. Ditch those wedding photography books and give her the most beautiful wedding you could. She will teach your kids to find the beauty in everything just as she had taught you. Every day will be an adventure as she tries to create photograph-worthy memories with you. She may wake you up in the middle of the night because she is buzzing with ideas but she will make it up in the morning with a stack of hot pancakes beside a steaming cup of your favorite coffee blend.

Grow old with a girl who takes photographs. Sit with her on the front porch as you both pore over the bits and pieces of the moments you’ve had together. Stroke her hair as you both relive the photo walks that you took and the places you have been when you were both young. Smile as you both reenact your clever wedding vows.

Date a girl who takes photographs because she will always see that “something” in the most “nothing” of things. She will never let anyone take you away from her like she never lets anyone steal her photos and that is just one of the evidences that she loves you.

The concert “The Party” by Korean girl group 2NE1 will likely be remembered as “Tribute to Sandara” night.

Kicking off the two-hour-and-a-half show last June 4 at the Araneta Coliseum was indie band Techie Romantics, who did a three-song set. They were immediately followed by balladeer “Asiansation” Christian Bautista, who gleefully recalled after singing Bruno Mars “Just the Way You Are” and “Love Moves in Mysterious Ways” how he felt upon learning that Sandara “Sandy/Dara” Park loved his hit, “The Way You Look At Me.”

“Grabe nung nakuha ko yung text na ‘yon [saying that Dara liked my song] parang… I felt so good! I felt so happy. So Dara if you’re listening, this is for you!” Christian shared.

Comedienne and the event’s host Giselle Sanchez caused a ruckus and a false alarm when she appeared on stage in full-Dara garb in 2NE1′s debut single’s space version of the music video “Fire” (complete with the “unicorn hair”) and introduced herself as “Luneta Park,” the “honorary member of Pinoy Blackjacks (2NE1’s official fan club name) whose favorite member is Dara (aka Sandara Park…Luneta Park…get it?).

Indie band The Bloomfields followed, singing “Ale,” “Breaktime” and two more songs. Then, the Kean Cipriano-fronted Callalily went onstage and held what seemed to be their own mini-showcase. Among all the front acts, they stayed onstage the longest, performing five songs including their first hit “Stars.” In between numbers, he recalled how, way back when he still wasn’t in a band, he’d often see this “chinita” onscreen.

It was also a night of fulfilling dreams. Kean, who wore a sleeveless “I ? Dara” shirt, asked the crowd to sing “Magbalik” with him, saying “pangarap naming na kantahin ng buong ka-Araneta-han itong kantang ‘to.”

Last act was the award-winning hip hop dance group Philippine All-Stars, who wowed the crowd with an impressive 10-minute performance. Their exit cued the crowd to scream relentlessly for their female idols.

Finally, 2NE1 appeared and performed “Fire.” With the obligatory introductions aside (all members spoke bits of Tagalog beyond the usual “Mahal Kita” or “Mabuhay!”), Dara reminisced the last time she was at The Big Dome in 2004, during the grand finals night of “Star Circle Quest,” where she was crowned 1st runner-up. She said, in fluent Tagalog, she never thought she’d be back there to perform again, this time with her 2NE1 co-members CL, Bom and Minzy.

This was followed by a performance of Minzy and CL’s song, “Please Don’t Go” and the group’s latest song, “Lonely.”

Saying that that day was a special day for her, Dara shared, “Isa sa pinakamalaking dream ko na mag-perform dito sa Araneta Coliseum. [Ngayon] nandito na ako… with me is 2NE1.” For her solo, the former SCQ finalist did “In Or Out,” much to everyone’s amusement. The rest of the girls joined Dara anew for their supposed final song, “Can’t Nobody.”

For encores, 2NE1 did “Clap Your Hands” and “I Don’t Care.” It took several minutes after 2NE1 left the stage did people, who were chanting “We want more!,” acknowledge that the show’s over.

“The Party” ran for just 30-minutes (just eight songs!) that there wasn’t even any need for costume changes. It’s no surprise then that fans at the venue can only say “Bitin!” in describing the concert.

Then again, opting to perform only the more familiar songs was a good idea because it kept the audience on their feet. Most importantly, with the girls being able to speak Tagalog, they were able to create an even livelier atmosphere.

“The Party” was a huge success and is perhaps one of the better concerts to have happened during the first half of 2011.

About World IPv6 Day
On 8 June, 2011, Google, Facebook, Yahoo!, Akamai and Limelight Networks will be amongst some of the major organizations that will offer their content over IPv6 for a 24-hour “test flight”. The goal of the Test Flight Day is to motivate organizations across the industry – Internet service providers, hardware makers, operating system vendors and web companies – to prepare their services for IPv6 to ensure a successful transition as IPv4 addresses run out.

Please join us for this test drive and help accelerate the momentum of IPv6 deployment.

How To Take Part
Interested in joining the other organizations that are taking part in this initiative? Select your type of organization below and you’ll find everything you need to participate in World IPv6 Day:

Other IPv6 Day Events
Heise.de held a similar event on 16 September 2010. As a result of their prior tests and experiences they now operate dual stack IPv6 and IPv4 on their website. You can read about their experiences in the following links:

Quick information about this event, World IPv6 Day is an event sponsored and organized by the Internet Society and several large content providers to test public IPv6 deployment. It will start at 00:00 UTC on June 8, 2011 and end 23:59 the same day. The main motivation for the event is to evaluate the real world effects of the IPv6 brokenness seen by various synthetic tests. On World IPv6 Day, major web companies and other industry players will come together to enable IPv6 on their main websites for 24 hours. The goal is to motivate organizations across the industry – Internet service providers, hardware makers, operating system vendors and web companies – to prepare their services for IPv6 to ensure a successful transition as IPv4 address space runs out.

The test will primarily consist of websites publishing AAAA records, allowing IPv6 capable hosts to connect using IPv6. Although Internet service providers (ISP) are encouraged to participate, they are not expected to deploy anything on that day, just increase their readiness to handle support issues.

Many companies and organisations have committed to participating in the experiment, including the largest search engines, social networking websites and content distribution networks.

The Windows 8 release date has been shrouded in a cloud of rumors. Most experts expect a late 2011 early 2012 release of the operating system. A recently leaked Windows 8 product cycle chart provides the answers needed to determine the release date of the next Windows OS by Microsoft.

You can take a look at the image here. The chart lists the planning, development and readiness product cycle of Windows 8 and related Microsoft products such as Internet Explorer 8, Windows Live Wave 4, Windows Live Wave 5 and Windows 7. It also lists major events.

Some events and products have already been held / released and it is possible to pinpoint the release date of Windows 8 by making the remaining calculations.

Here is what we know. Forum I and Forum II have been major events, the former held in December 2009, the latter in April 2010. The listing lists four additional event, Forum III to Forum VI. The next two events fall into the development phase of Windows 8, the remaining two into the readiness phase.

Internet Explorer 9 and Windows Live Wave 4 have either been announced with final dates (at least for the beta) or released already.

Forum II was held 4-5 months after Forum I. If we take this approach we can calculate the approximate month of the other four forums. This would mean between 16 to 20 months from April 2010 on which coincides perfectly with the projected late 2011 release date.

The Windows 8 beta should be released around June 2011 and the final release might even hit the stores at the same time that Windows 7 was released, which was October.

The Internet Explorer 9 product cycle confirms the findings. Microsoft has announced a beta release of Internet Explorer 9 for August 2010. This would be the same time that Forum III will be held, which is exactly four months after Forum II.

The chart may be a bit off since Windows Live Wave 4 was released in June. It could be that Microsoft has projected the Forum III conference for June / July instead.

Could also be that the chart is not 100% accurate and it can happen that development cycles need to be shifted, especially if major issues are encountered during development.

Still, we are pretty sure that Microsoft will release the beta of Windows 8 in or around June 2011 and the final release of the operating system in or around October 2011.

What’s your take on the chart? We are very interested in users who can provide us with additional information including Forum III to Forum VI dates.

1. FINE
This is the word women use to end an
argument when they are right and you
need to shut up.

2. FIVE MINUTES
If she is getting dressed, this means
a half hour. Five minutes is only five
minutes if you have just been given
five more minutes to watch the game
before helping around the house.

3. NOTHING
This is the calm before the storm.
This means something, and you should
be on your toes. Arguments that begin
with nothing usually end in fine.

4. GO AHEAD
This is a dare, not permission. DO NOT
DO IT!

5. LOUD SIGH
This is actually a word, but is a
nonverbal statement often
misunderstood by men. A loud sigh
means she thinks you are an idiot and
she wonders why she is wasting her
time standing here and arguing with
you about nothing. [Refer back to
for the meaning of nothing]

6. THAT’S OKAY
This is one of the most dangerous
statements a woman can make to a man.
That’s okay means she wants to think
long and hard before deciding how and
when you will pay for your mistakes.

7. THANKS
A woman is thanking you, do not
question, or faint. Just say you are
welcome.

8. WHAT EVER
It is a woman’s way of saying f*** you.

9. DON’T WORRY ABOUT IT, I GOT IT
Another dangerous statement, meaning
this is something that a woman has
told a man to do several times, but is
now doing it herself. This will later
result in a man asking “what’s wrong?”
[For the woman’s response, refer to
, then run.]

* i got this on my friendster. i just wanna share this to all the women..
