Google+1′d?

Photobucket
You +1’d this? Yes, I +1′d that. You might get confused but it has nothing to do with Math or any equation. This is how you LIKE on the latest social networking site. Last week I created my Google+ account (Thanks hubby for the invite!) and yes, +1’d it. I think it’s not yet available to all because it requires someone to invite you using your GMAIL account. It’s similar to other social networking sites and can be categorized more like Facebook. According to my friend, “It’s FB, but it’s not FB!.” I would consider myself as a noob, trying to learn more about Google+. At first I was a little bit confused but was able to get around the basics. CIRCLE is the term to group your contacts, much like a ‘circle of friends’. It has better features when it comes to listing your friends or should I say circles since it will allow you to organize them. You can also HANGOUT with your circles online using webcams, LIVE! Of course you can still upload pictures, do public streams, share some links, the usual social networking stuff that you can do. But I haven’t tried their Sparks and Huddle features. Google+ is already available for Android phones. Unfortunately, Google+ app for iOS hasn’t been approved yet. Ask a friend to invite you so that you can join and experience what’s with the latest +1. If you want invites, please message me. See you there.

Just So You Know..

Have you ever wonder how do some of the popular companies in the world got their names.. Check this out!

Apple Computers – It was the favorite fruit of founder Steve Jobs. He was three months late in filing a name for the business, and he threatened to call his company Apple Computers if the other colleagues didn’t suggest a better name by 5 O’clock.

CISCO – It is not an acronym as popularly believed. It is short for San Francisco.

Compaq – This name was formed by using COMp, for computer, and PAQ to denote a small integral object.

Corel – The name was derived from the founder’s name Dr. Michael Cowpland. It stands for COwpland REsearch Laboratory.

Google – The name started as a joke boasting about the amount of information the search-engine would be able to search. It was originally named “Googol”, a word for the number represented by 1 followed by 100 zeros. After founders – Stanford graduate students Sergey Brin and Larry Page presented their project to an angel investor, they received a cheque made out to ‘Google’

Hotmail – Founder Jack Smith got the idea of accessing email via the web from a computer anywhere in the world. When Sabeer Bhatia came up with the business plan for the mail service, he tried all kinds of names ending in ‘mail’ and finally settled for hotmail as it included the letters ‘html’ – the programming language used to write web pages. It was initially referred to as HoTMaiL with selective uppercasing.

10 Photography Quotes that You Should Know

Take note of and remember the following photo quotes. It’s always worthwhile to learn from masters.

“The wisdom of the wise and the experience of the ages are perpetuated in quotations”. – Benjamin Disraeli

1. “You don’t take a photograph, you make it.” – Ansel Adams
Full awareness of what makes a good photo is essential in taking great photographs.
Why would anyone be interested in this photo and what elements can be included or excluded to make it truly great?

2. “Your first 10,000 photographs are your worst.” – Henri Cartier-Bresson
Do you know how many photos you have taken up until now? You will have to take thousands of pictures to reach a point where you can begin to evaluate them objectively. Looking upon your photos as if you were looking at them through someone else’s eyes is a good way to give yourself constructive criticism. Comparing your first photos with your most recent, do you see improvement? Do you remember how you loved some of your first photos – do you still love them or are they now not so good anymore?

3. “Beauty can be seen in all things, seeing and composing the beauty is what separates the snapshot from the photograph.”– Matt Hardy
You often don’t or can’t see beauty in the world until someone shows it to you. Take a look around you just now – even without moving from the computer. Can you see something in a new way, a different way of presenting something common? Just take a look again…

4. “Nothing happens when you sit at home. I always make it a point to carry a camera with me at all times…I just shoot at what interests me at that moment.”– Elliott Erwitt
When the world is your canvas, so to speak, you need your tools with you to capture everything around you. Make a habit of always carrying a camera with you—you will never suffer the regret of wishing you had.

5. “Which of my photographs is my favorite? The one I’m going to take tomorrow.” – Imogen Cunningham
Never be fully satisfied with what you’ve done.
Never stop photographing. It is very likely that your best photograph has not yet been captured.

Song of the Week: Breakeven by The Script

The Script – Breakeven

Powered by: mp3ye.eu

Some of my fave lines from this song:

Her best days will be some of my worst, She finally met a man that’s gonna put her first..
‘Coz when a heart breaks, no it don’t break even, even no.

What am I supposed to do when the best part of me was always you
What am I supposed to say when I’m all choked up and you’re ok
I’m falling to pieces..

They say bad things happen for a reason. But no wise words gonna stop the bleeding
‘Coz she’s moved on while I’m still grieving
